WHAT IS IT?
Microdermabrasion is a non-chemical, non-surgical procedure that removes the outermost layer of dry, dead skin cells to reveal younger, healthier-looking skin. This procedure (sometimes called Particle Skin Resurfacing) uses a hand held device that sprays fine aluminum oxide crystals onto the surface of your skin under pressure & vacuum which provide gentle abrasion, or "polishing," to remove the outer layer of old skin cells. This procedure is not painful and does not require anesthetic, but feels mildly abrasive with a slight warming sensation as the crystals gently slough away the old and damaged layers. These crystals “erase” the skin's imperfections without damaging the skin's integrity. Microdermabrasion also stimulates new skin growth and encourages collagen production. Collagen is a protein in your skin that's abundant when you're young and makes skin appear taut and smooth. Collagen production declines as we age, resulting in looser, weaker skin and uneven in tone & texture.
The results of this procedure is smoother, more radiant, youthful skin.

WHAT SKIN TYPES & PROBLEMS WOULD BENEFIT MICRODERMABRASION?
Microdermabrasion is right for virtually any skin type and anyone interested in minimizing the effects of:
Sun-damaged skin
Uneven skin tones & brown spots
Enlarged pores
Dull, lifeless skin complexions
Fine lines & wrinkles
Superficial scars
Blackheads & oily skin
WHAT RESULTS SHOULD I EXPECT?
Microdermabrasion results are usually immediate and noticeable. Overall, your skin will feel soft & smooth. After a Microdermabrasion treatment, your skin will have a fresh pink-to-red glow. This typically fades within the first 24 hours. You may feel as though you have a mild sunburn or windburn. You may experience minor skin peeling a few days after treatment as well.
Most people experience dramatic improvements in the color, tone, and texture of their skin, resulting in thicker, healthier, younger looking skin.
Before & After's

WHO IS NOT A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR MICRODERMABRASION?
It is not recommended for people who have deep scars, active keloids, undiagnosed lesions, a recent herpes outbreak, facial warts, active acne, an auto-immune system disorder, or unstable diabetes. Pregnant women and clients currently taking Accutane (or within the last 6 mos) should not undergo microdermabrasion. People should refrain from chemical peels, collagen injections, fillers, waxing, tanning or any other skin procedure for 2-3 weeks before a microdermabrasion treatment.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Most patients require more than one microdermabrasion treatment to achieve the most beneficial results. Treatments are generally performed two weeks apart, and about five to twelve treatments are typically necessary depending on client's goals. Additional maintenance, or "touch-up," sessions every month to few months after the initial treatment cycle is recommended.
WHAT SHOULD I DO POST TREATMENT?
Microdermabrasion, often referred to as a “Lunch Time” peel, means there is no down time & you can resume your normal routine immediately following a treatment.
It is required that you avoid sun exposure for 24-48 hours after treatment and wear a sunblock with an SPF of 15 or higher. Keep the new skin clean and using moisturizer consistently will minimize the effect of any skin peeling that occurs.

Glycolic Acid
Glycolic Acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA), or fruit acid, derived from natural sources such as sugar cane and certain acidic fruits.
Glycolic acid is one of the smallest organic molecules of all acid peels. This enables it to penetrate the skin much deeper and faster, to stimulate growth of new skin and collagen. It works by causing the cells of the epidermis to shed more readily, which in turn fights aging by improving elasticity and firmness.
It is a great treatment for maturing, fragile skin that cannot tolerate the pressure of microdermabrasion. It is a great aid in balancing dry skin because it has terrific water-binding properties. Glycolic acid can be known to decrease fine lines, acne and some acne scarring. It may reduce in time minor skin discoloration such as sun damage, age spots, liver spots, freckles, and melasma (brown blotchiness) caused by pregnancy or taking birth control pills.
Salicylic Acid
Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that is derived from natural sources such as willow tree bark and other natural plant life.
Salicylic acid is a highly effective superficial peeling agent, pore cleanser and oil reducer. It is best known for its use in anti-acne treatments because of its ability to penetrate the follicle and encourage the shedding of dead skin cells. This keeps the pores clear of cellular debris and also reduces the amount of pore blockage and breakouts.
This natural acid is very anti-inflammatory in nature. Since acne is, in essence, an inflammatory condition, salicylic acid is ideal for successfully treating acne lesions. It is also effective for red and inflamed skin, acne rosacea, whiteheads, blackheads, pustules and bumps, psoriasis, calluses, corns and keratosis pillaris. It can also decrease fine lines or wrinkles and minor skin discoloration like sun damage and age spots. This may be a better choice than other acid peels for people with more sensitive skin as well.

How It Works
These natural peels are one of the best approaches for rapid skin rejuvenation. They are lighter, milder peels than chemical peels, and are used to improve and smooth the texture of the skin by removing its damaged outer layers. These peels do not have the “down time” and long, visible healing process that are associated with chemical peels. Once applied, glycolic acid reacts with the top layer of the skin (epidermis), breaking down the binding properties that hold the dead cells together. The treatment works to dissolve these cells, revealing the fresh skin underneath. These natural acid peels gently create a smoother, more supple, refined skin texture with fewer irregularities and less pigmentation.
About The Treatments
A concentrated and pure solution is applied to the skin for a timed treatment. A mild tingling, itching sensation is felt while the solution is on the skin. Once removed, a soothing mask is applied to calm and restore the skin.
A series of 5 or more treatments scheduled 2-4 weeks apart is recommended for optimum results. Glycolic Acid & Salicylic Acid Peels can be incorporated during a facial or be done alone. Please allow 30 minutes if scheduled separately.
It is not advisable to have a peel if you are pregnant, nursing or are a keloid former. Current use of antibiotics will cause the skin to be super sensitive and peels are not advisable until 3-4 weeks after medication has ended. Do not have a peel in congunction with facial waxing, other glycolic products/treatments done elsewhere or while using Retin-A or Accutane.
A consent form will need to be read & signed before starting treatments
